Heavy Traffic Congestion Expected – Multiple Large Events
Saturday, October 12th, 2024
On Saturday, October 12th, 2024, motorists traveling in the area around the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds and Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium will experience large volumes of pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Coinciding events, located across the street from each other, will cause traffic congestion throughout the day. The Carolina Classic Fair will be taking place at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds and a Wake Forest University (WFU) football game will be taking place at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium.
Weekend crowds at the Carolina Classic Fair are traditionally elevated. WFU will be playing Clemson University, which is expected to be a sold-out game.
Fair-goers and WFU football ticket holders should expect extended travel times to both venues and are advised to plan accordingly. Parking availability and information for both events can be located on the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds website and Allegacy Stadium website (see below). Questions related to parking during these events should be directed to the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds and ASM Global at Wake Forest University.

The Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD), Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO), and Winston-Salem Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will be in the designated areas above to facilitate traffic control and assist with event security.
Motorists traveling through these areas are encouraged to seek alternative travel routes to minimize the impact of traffic volume. GPS and other navigational apps can be utilized to assist with traveling around these areas.
