As many of you know; September is Suicide Awareness Month. September 10 is world suicide prevention day. The ideation of suicide does not come in one size fits all. The human face can mask so many emotions.
Many people know how to wear their game face; the one that states “I’m fine”.It is not always obvious when someone is struggling. There are signs to look for; small signals. The ninety mile stare. The disconnect. Losing complete interest in once cherished activities. Not caring about their appearance; not bathing, clothing disheveled; canceling self care appointments.
Excessive sleeping, not sleeping.
VETERANS CUP was based on the principal of PTSD redirection suicide prevention through the peer to peer support model.
We must encourage one another to show up, reach out, connect, ask the question; “how are you doing”?
There is HOPE.
