VETERANS BRIDGE HOME INFORMATION
| Honoring Our Heroes: Celebrating Veterans Day |
| Veterans Day, observed annually on November 11, is a day for Americans to honor and recognize the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Originally known as Armistice Day, the holiday marks the end of World War I, when fighting ceased on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. In 1954, following World War II and the Korean War, the name was changed to Veterans Day to honor all U.S. military veterans. Why We Celebrate Veterans Day is a time to express gratitude for the sacrifices and service of those who have defended our nation’s freedoms. Unlike Memorial Day, which honors those who died in military service, Veterans Day celebrates all who have served—living or deceased, in wartime or peacetime. Ways to Celebrate Veterans Day There are many meaningful ways to observe Veterans Day and show appreciation for our nation’s heroes: 1. Attend the Veterans Day Ceremony and Festival at the Carolina Field of Honor Veterans Bridge Home will be celebrating our veterans with a special ceremony followed by a Veterans Day Festival at the Carolina Field of Honor in Kernersville, NC (See flyer attached) that will feature food trucks, entertainment, veteran-owned businesses displays, static military displays and much more. 2. Thank a Veteran A personal “thank you” can go a long way. Whether it’s a handwritten note, a phone call, or a face-to-face conversation, expressing sincere gratitude can make a lasting impact. 3. Volunteer or Donate Support Veterans Bridge Home with a donation of any amount to equip the organization with funding to connect service members, veterans and their families to necessary resources. Whether it’s your time, resources, or financial help, every contribution counts. 4. Share Stories and Learn Listening to veterans’ experiences helps preserve history and gives civilians a deeper understanding of military life. Encourage veterans to share their stories and take time to learn about the wars and missions they were part of. 5. Fly the American Flag Display the U.S. flag proudly and respectfully on Veterans Day. It’s a visible sign of national pride and appreciation for our servicemen and women. The Importance of Continuing Support Veterans Day reminds us to honor the service and sacrifice of those who’ve worn the uniform. But at Veterans Bridge Home, we believe that honoring veterans isn’t a one-day event — it’s a daily commitment. Supporting veterans as they transition to civilian life, find meaningful careers, and stay connected to their community is something we’re passionate about all year long. |
